Podio Tutorial Importing Data from MS Excel In Podio | How do I upload Excel file to Podio
How do I upload to Podio?
Once the option is enabled, you can click the "Install files" button at the bottom of any app item to paste the file.
If you are connected to a file sharing service, access your files from that service with the tabs on the left.
The
Excel import tool lets you import your Excel spreadsheets to your Podio apps,
giving you the ability to add more data to your apps in just a few steps. Make
sure you have the data you want to add to the front page of your Excel document
and keep the format clean and simple.
Click
the wrench icon on the right of the app, then click on "Excel Import"
Here
is a step-by-step video walk-through:
How
to use the "key" function to avoid duplicates content in your apps.
To
avoid importing duplicate items into your application, be sure to use a unique
'key' for the field, such as the title field. If you do this, Podio will not
create duplicate items that already exist on that topic directly. Instead, it
will first want to see if an object with that title exists, and if it does, it
will update that object (instead of repeating it) if it does not already exist.
will create something new.
When
you select a relationship key icon, any of the corresponding items will be
linked to the imported item. If the match is not found, a new item will be
created in the related application.
Importing
into Member camp
When
assigning users a Podio members field, be sure to enable the Activity Member
field field during the import process.
Importing
large amounts from Excel
If
you would like to import more than one value from Excel to the Podio field, you
can use semicolon (;) as a separator for these values. This applies to category
fields, contact fields, relationship fields, and tags.
To
separate the Contact fields and relationship fields, use the semicolon (;) in conjunction
with the line break.
Example:
"test1@company.com;
test2@company.com" - This includes two contact emails or the same
reference.
While
"test1@company.com;
test2@company.com
"
This
can add 2 email addresses to two contacts or references (due to line break).
If
you are importing multiple values into a relationship field, it is important
that the field is connected to only one application. Import cannot manage
multiple applications linked to the same field.
If
anything went wrong
Suppose
you entered the duplicate lines by mistake. Don't just try again. You can
integrate your app (without content) and get the same app but without imported
lines. You can also delete multiple lines with the bulk delete function.
Now,
you can try again the import function in your new app and delete the old app
with inappropriate content.
Known
limitations
It
is not currently possible to enter some data with null data. You can only
change existing data with new data (e.g. ABC with XYZ new data).
When
you import into relationship fields, you can only import into fields that
target one application. The relationship fields that point to most applications
cannot be used with Excel import.
